This is what the judges thought about our project in the Gatwick Diamond Responsible Business Awards…
From a fantastic and diverse range of entrants who all demonstrated responsible business practice within their companies we felt our winners had the widest reach beyond their own business interests into the wider community.
As well as recycling and reusing materials as part of their core business thereby supporting a circular economy; this company has been designed from the outset with environmental and social impact at its heart.
Every opportunity has been taken to ensure that the business itself has as little an environmental impact as possible with use of low emission vehicles and a – recycled! – wind turbine. In addition, the company works in partnership with a local charity offering regular meaningful work and skills development for adults with learning disabilities, supporting diversity in recruitment by providing employment opportunities for long term unemployed and ex-offenders.
The passion and commitment of those we met on our visit was clear as these dedicated individuals practice social responsibility in their day to day lives and actively campaign on environmental issues at a local, national and international level.
